Hypnosis – One Way To Quit Smoking
Every one knows how drastically the world has changed over the last few centuries, unless they’ve been living under a rock. Our world seems rife with success, but underneath it all, a host of temptations lie in wait for every citizen. Within the arenas of alcohol, drugs, sex, gambling and s

Addiction to smoking is not as easy to overcome as everyone says. Ask a person who has really struggled with it. It costs capital that is much-needed elsewhere, and supports directionless behavior. It predisposes those around you to weakened immune systems, and you can become a burden to your surroundings in a way you never thought possible. The biggest loss of all is your youth, which you will never regain in full. Nicotine stays in our systems far longer than any component of alcohol, and the effort required to break smoking’s stranglehold is every bit as fierce as fighting against heroine.
Smoking has a strong hold on us. Between smoking and drinking, it is harder to say “No!” and “I quit!” to smoking. Almost everything has been ineffective, including the pharmaceutical industry, because so much of an addiction is entrenched into long-term thought patterns and habits. One avenue of treatment offered by the psychiatric/medical community has not received enough attention, due to its popularization in films and stage shows – and that is hypnosis. Even in modern society, our heads are full of vampires and evil physicians with pendulums, watches and controlling stares. If we could push all of that aside, however, we would see the obvious benefits, because unlike drugs, hypnosis goes straight to those long-term thought patterns and habits.
Most doctors, including psychiatrists and psychologists, are fully armed with gadgetry, guilt trips and drugs to force you to stop smoking. Their track record is poor, especially in the use of guilt. Rational explanations and warnings are not much better, as addictions are not based on rational logic. They are “irrational” behaviors. For many professionals, hypnosis is the reasonable alternative. Patients give it high marks, and old public misconceptions are gradually being left behind.
Hypnosis has spread to every corner of the world. Doctors use it for numerous medical purposes. Considering the complexity of the procedure, it’s far too delicate a medical art for amateurs to play with unless they’ve made serious preparations. However, there are ways to hypnotize one’s self. It takes concentration and an unusual state of serenity, but it’s possible.
Experts know, however, that no two people are alike, so the hypnotist who has worked with many people can tell you about the enormous variations between individuals under hypnosis. With this assistance, you may be able to avoid some of the surprises you’ll encounter along the way. As you learn, and eventually work on yourself through self-hypnosis, you may be the biggest surprise of all.
In the end, successful hypnosis for one’s self or another is possible if you have enough experience to guide a subject through the entire process. If you’re not up to it, though, there are many trained practitioners who are willing to help. Find the right one, and you’re sure to benefit from it, whether you’re dealing with smoking, other addictions, fears or past traumas. You should have a safe and educational experience as well.
