When we get older, we learn such insightful things like it hurts to fall, and it’s hard to ignore these beliefs once they have become ingrained. You can give yourself a different way of training your brain and learning new actions by the use of self-hypnosis. The subconscious mind is responsible for forming an individual’s personality and emotional drive.
I’m sure you are well aware that hypnosis has been has been mainstream for quite a while. I’m sure you have seen the pocket watch swinging slowing back and forth before the subject’s eyes. Self-hypnosis is a therapeutic technique used to help us clear ourselves of whatever beliefs, fears or insecurities that are holding us back. By using hypnosis, you are able to concentrate on a specific thought in order to change your habits. This might be any number of things like smoking, being overweight, a fear of public speaking, being overly shy, etc.
Anyone can be hypnotized but its effectiveness depends on how much you will allow yourself to accept the hypnosis process. Regardless, the process of hypnotizing oneself is fairly simple. The hypnosis process centers on several basic steps. It is the way that these steps are achieved that differs from technique to technique.
The first step in the hypnosis process is to achieve complete relaxation. The mind is capable of many different levels of “sleep”. The state of sleep that you are in when you hear your alarm clock in the morning is much different than when you are under anesthesia and are undergoing an operation. The level of relaxation that is required for hypnosis is somewhere between being awake and being asleep.
The second step in the hypnosis process is to focus on an idea, a suggestion or a phrase. When I say focus I mean to attain a more heightened state of concentration than you normally practice throughout the day. You will also notice a heightening of all five of your senses; this is known as hyper-awareness. Hyper-awareness happens naturally when you increase your concentration while completely relaxed. You may also experience rapid eye movement or REM. You are not technically asleep.
You can easily come back to full alertness when under self-hypnosis; this is not the case for most people when they are sleeping.
You need to allow your willpower to push you into submission for self-hypnosis to help you change bad habits or hardships you me have. Initial momentum to do something is provided by the subconscious mind, but the willpower to actually take action is provided by the conscious mind. It will be constant struggle to make changes in your thinking without proper willpower. Hypnosis itself requires willpower and commitment to be successful.
